‘94 – ‘99 cherokee xj or grand (3960cc)feedback please?

all relevant feedback appreciated re:
1. finally upgrading from a ‘83 toyota swb bj42 3.6 diesel (with mods) how would you compare this dedicated and extremely capable 4WD to the cherokee?
2. someone mentioned you need a spare parts factory after the 100k mark? suppose it depends how you drive and maintain the beast 
3. what are the “inherent” problems / parts that need replacing or fixing? any characteristic things to watch out for?
4. which model / year would be the best all round build? (have noticed the xj is made in the us and the grand made in austria)
5. and finally … anyone know how many computers are on board with the various models up to ‘99? and when did they introduce computer technology on these models?

I have not driven the Toy car, but have two Grand and standard at over 400,000 KM and very happy and still driving. One has the stroker conversion.
1 and 2. Pardon my language but BS on the needing a parts department. I have included a link to Austrailian jeep clubs, where you can get more information locally.
3. I would avoid the Quadra-Trac system on the transfer case option. While it works, it is very expensive when it does not. If you go to very large tires, the rear Dana axle is not up to it and MUCH worse with stroker. Normal use, no problems AT ALL with maintenance…changing the oil.
4. My two cents is the Regular Cherokee is more off road capable and was made from 1984 to 2001 with VERY little changes, so parts is not a big deal again.
5. The 4 liter had the compter control from 1987 at introduction.
You might run into the problem of heating at idle on some of them, but various forums can help with that. http://www.mallcrawlin.com/ comes to mind in the state.
