How about this Idea?
I was watching some Seattle News and a man who owns a “Bio Diesel” station had an interesting Idea.
He thinks the USA should start growing fuel crops in the mediands of our freeways. He brings up the point that we have millions of acres that we use tax money to mow the grass and weeds every day, from coast to coast.
If we are paying to mobilize a crew to cut the weeds in the medians, why don’t we just pay the same guys to go cut corn or soybeans..?..Sure there would be the issue of having to “back haul” a crop as opposed to just cutting weeds and letting them fall…..but where does this Idea rank as far as “Economics Vs. Reality” goes?
It sounds good but I’m interested in feedback that would support or oppose this Idea…?
1 the medians are for water storage after a large rain fall
2 many have sharp grades to channel water into the middle how would get a planter/seeder onto it safely also a harvesting machine into the median safel
3 imagine the road kill and mayhem of wild animals getting to the feed crops on the highways that is why they keep it cut to deter wildlife from residing in the medians
