Just got my mazda 6, but not happy?
Just got my first car, a blue Mazda6 TS2 52 reg 2.0 turbo diesel , the next day after getting insured I was taking it for it’s first drive on the M1, on the way back I had a turbo failure and the engine started burning engine oil (emitting massive plumes of thick smoke) and kept running at high revs even when i turned off the ignition. I got my family to safety, and jumped back in the car and managed to stall the engine by bringing up the clutch in gear with the brakes on. I know the turbo needs replacing, the engine seems fine but will I need to change the catalytic converter for it to pass the next M.O.T emissions test? My mechanic told me that the cat will possibly be contaminated and might need replacing. Another person told me this would only be the case on a petrol engined car.

But I managed to stop the engine unlike this guy!
Turbo seals are leaking. Check your oil; the car ate it, that’s what it was running on.
